It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Willis Elton Jones, Jr. on October 16, 2026, at the age of 72. Born on March 1, 1954, in Texas City, TX, Willis lived a life full of love and hard work, leaving behind a legacy that will be cherished by his family and friends.
A dedicated truck driver in the timber industry, Willis was known for his strong work ethic and the pride he took in providing for his loved ones. Willis was retired from Stott Transport. He was a proud veteran of the Army, having served his country with honor. Outside of work, he enjoyed every moment spent with his children and grandchildren, creating memories that will last forever.
Willis is survived by his beloved sons, Marshall, John (Lucy), Tracy, and Stacey (Alicia) Jones, as well as his daughter, Elizabeth Freeman. He will also be lovingly remembered by his 15 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. His siblings, brother Troy and sister Edith Norris, are also left with fond memories of their time together.
A visitation will be held on October 23, 2026, from 10:00 AM to service time at Southern Funeral Homes. Family and friends are invited to join us as we celebrate Willis' life during the funeral service on October 23, 2026, at 2:00 PM, also at Southern Funeral Homes. Following the service, we will gather for a graveside service at Jones Cemetery at 3:00 PM, where he will be laid to rest. John Jones, Jr., Kevin Day, Cody Gathright, Brandon Gorham, Chad Gorham, and Jacob Gorham will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be T.J. Jones and Dakota Jones.
