William "Bill"
Edgar Frazier
May 28, 1947 — Feb 19, 2023
Goldonna
"No memory is ever alone; it's at the end of a trail of memories, a dozen trails that each have their own associations." Louis L'Armour
William (Bill) Edgar Frazier was born May 28, 1947, at home in Goldonna, LA and passed from this life February 19, 2023 surrounded by family. Bill graduated from Goldonna High School in 1965 and went to work in the oil and gas industry that same year. He worked in that field with little departure until his retirement in 2016.
Bill married the love of his life in September of 1966 and by 1977 the couple had grown to a happy little family of five. He was a devoted son, husband, daddy and poppa who prioritized his family's needs over his own.
As a young father, he worked long hours so he could take his family on fun vacations to see the country he read about in books and saw in his favorite western movies. He used those times to bind us together; we made lots of good memories that we will cherish all our lives.
He was our steady, strong hand and our calm when things became stormy. He was also our handyman and our own personal how-to manual when questions came up (and they frequently did). He was our master storyteller and family historian, and our entertainment…we never knew what he might say and there was always lots of laughter around the Sunday dinner table.
Bill was quick to introduce the grandchildren to his favorite country music artists and they knew that riding with Poppa meant listening to Willie's Roadhouse on the radio and hopefully a stop at the store for drinks and a snack as a bonus. They also knew how comfy his lap was when they were little and the unwavering support he gave as they got older.
He told us kids, as we were growing up, that we could do whatever we set our mind to do and he modeled that for us. We were not afraid to face the challenges of the world because we knew he had our back.
Good times or bad, celebrating or sad, he was there for our family. He was a strong, colorful presence with a small circle that he loved very much. He will be missed more than any mere collection of words could ever express.
The family would like to thank our friends who supported us through the last few years by dropping off food, picking daddy up when he had fallen, or helping Mama with little things that needed doing around the place. You know who you are and we thank you. Thank you to Dan Dupree, family friend and nurse and the hospice staff. We would especially like to thank longtime friend and neighbor Jimmie Joe Gates, who went above and beyond many times the last two and a half years; and also, Bill's sweet sitter, and our friend, Derlene Barnett who made daddy's stay at home possible the last few months. May the Lord bless you for every expression of love.
Bill was preceded in death by his father, Willie Edward Frazier, his mother Ila Ann (Burnett) Frazier, his brother Charles Edward Frazier, and his sisters Alice Faye Frazier and Annie Lou Buckminister.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 56 years, Janice (Blake) Frazier, son Greg Frazier and wife Sarah, daughters Meredith McGrew and husband Erin, and Julie Sellers and husband Heath, his sister Pat Brownlee, ten loving grandchildren and twelve adorable great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 22, 2023, at Goldonna Baptist Church, from 9:30 AM until time of services.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, February 22, 2023 at Goldonna Baptist Church with Rev. Adam Stanfield officiating. Interment will follow in Yankee Springs Cemetery, in Goldonna.
