Reverend Timothy Dolan Smart
June 25, 1954 – January 15, 2025

Reverend Timothy Dolan Smart, age 70, of Winnfield, Louisiana, peacefully entered into eternal rest on January 15, 2025, in Lafayette, following a brief illness.

Born on June 25, 1954, in Winnfield, Timothy was the beloved son of the late Richard Dolan Smart and Louise Frazier Smart. He was also preceded in death by his aunt, Helen V. Smart, and his granddaughter, Kadence Raylynne Blundell.

A 1972 graduate of Winnfield Senior High School, Timothy answered the call to ministry in 1974, dedicating his life to serving the Lord. He earned a Bachelor of Arts from Louisiana College and went on to complete his Master of Divinity at the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary in 1981. His devotion to his faith was evident in his ministry, which spanned congregations across Louisiana, including Gansville, Carencro, Georgetown, Sikes, and many other communities.

In addition to his pastoral work, Timothy served his community as a firefighter. Certified as a Fire Service Instructor by LSU in 1990, he was honored as "Fireman of the Year" in 1989 in Grant Parish, exemplifying his courage and dedication to helping others.

Timothy was a man of many talents and passions. A skilled carpenter and woodworker, he found joy in creating with his hands. He loved the quiet solace of fishing, cherished antique cars, and had a deep appreciation for history. Above all, he had a passion for studying God's Word, which shaped his life and ministry.

Timothy leaves behind a family who treasures his memory: his three children, Erica Louise Allwell, Sandra Diane Blundell (Jason), and Carla Anne Smart; his grandchildren, Kerrigan Worsham, Kaeson Smart, Jace Blundell, Dylan Smart, and Lillie Coutee; and his three brothers, Claude Smart (Phyllis), Larry Smart (Bergit), and Wayne Smart (Terry). He is also survived by six nephews and one niece, along with countless friends and those blessed by his ministry.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, January 19, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. in the Southern Funeral Home Chapel, with Reverend Danny Keyes officiating. Interment will follow at Sardis Cemetery under the direction of Southern Funeral Home. Friends are invited to visit with the family at the funeral home on Saturday, January 18, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., and on Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until the time of services.

Serving as pallbearers will be Aaron Smart, David Smart, Dolan Smart, Nicholas Smart, George Cook, and Jacob Young. Honorary pallbearers will include Jason Blundell and Dylan Smart.
