Thomas Francis Waxley, 84, of Winnfield, Louisiana, passed peacefully on January 23, 2025, surrounded by close friends and family. A beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, Thomas, will always be remembered for his kindness and caring shown to his family.

Born on October 6, 1940, at home in Jordan Hill, Louisiana, Thomas grew up the only son of Roy Thomas "Roy T" Waxley and Nancy Lee Jordan Waxley, and one sister, JoAnn Waxley Carter, all of whom preceded him in death. An active member of his church and community, Thomas demonstrated his love for the Lord through his service as a Sunday School teacher, superintendent, deacon, and faithful member. He was also a 32 nd degree Mason.

A skillful carpenter and homebuilder, Thomas devoted his career to woodworking, cabinetry, and home building. He was respected for his meticulousness, carefully attending to the smallest detail in his building. In his retirement, he continued to enjoy deer hunting and everything that goes with it, watching reruns of old westerns, and reading and collecting Louis L'Amour westerns and short stories. Family was important to him and he looked forward to watching his grandsons play ball from little league until they matured into fine, young men. His granddaughters were special to their Grandad. His great grandchildren made him smile with pride.

Thomas is survived by his wife of 64 years, Francis LaRue Taylor Waxley, of Winnfield, Louisiana; son, Thomas Layne Waxley, and wife, Sharon, of Winnfield, Louisiana; and son, Willard Dayne Waxley, of Bossier City, Louisiana; along with 5 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.

A celebration of his life will begin with visitation on Sunday afternoon, January 26, 2025, from 5 – 7 PM, at Southern Funeral Home, Winnfield, Louisiana.

Visitation will occur prior to the service on Monday, January 27, 2025, at 1 PM, with the funeral service at 2 PM. Services will be held at Corinth Baptist Church, Hwy 472, Jordan Hill Road, Winnfield, Louisiana. Interment in the cemetery following the funeral service.
