her life was defined by the profound love she held for her husband, children, and grandchildren.
Mrs. Thelma R. Maxey, age 83, of Natchitoches, Louisiana, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 15th, at home surrounded by loved ones. Thelma left behind a legacy of deep devotion to her faith and family. Born on August 4, 1943, in Winnfield, Louisiana, to the late Ina and Thell Rowell, Thelma was a cherished resident of Natchitoches for 50 years. As a dedicated homemaker, her life was defined by the profound love she held for her husband, children, and grandchildren.
Thelma was the beloved wife of James Maxey, with whom she shared 65 beautiful years of marriage. Together, they built a life centered around family and a shared passion for farming and cattle. In their later years, they enjoyed extensive travels, creating lasting memories across the country. Above all, Thelma's faith was her cornerstone; she had a deep, unwavering love for the Lord that guided her every day.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Ina and Thell Rowell, and her brother, John Rowell.
She is survived by her loving husband, James Maxey; her three children, Rebecca Bardwell (Jimmy), James Maxey (Tracy), and Whit Maxey (Suzanne); as well as 8 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren who will miss her dearly.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Mayeux, Dr. Akhtar, and the entire staff at the Natchitoches Regional Cancer Center, as well as the compassionate team at Hand In Hand Hospice, for their exceptional care, support, and kindness during this difficult journey.
A celebration of life service will be held at a later date, and those details will be announced as soon as they are finalized.
