Thelma Jean "Gigi" McFarland, age 68, of Dodson, Louisiana, passed away on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, in Alexandria, Louisiana. She was born on Saturday, January 4, 1958, in Jonesboro, Louisiana.

Thelma was a woman whose life centered on faith, family, and quiet devotion to others. She attended The Family Church and cherished the fellowship and spiritual community she found there. Nothing brought her greater joy than gathering with those she loved, especially during Sunday dinners where family stories and laughter filled the room.

For 35 years, Thelma faithfully served as a House Supervisor at the North Western State Development Center in Bossier City. Through her years of service, she dedicated herself to the care and well-being of others, leaving a lasting impact on those she worked alongside and those she helped care for.

She was an avid fisherman who found peace and happiness along the water's edge. Above all, Thelma treasured her family. Though she had no children of her own, she loved her nieces and nephews as if they were her own and took great pride in their lives.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William Loran McFarland, Sr. and Esther Townsend McFarland; and her siblings, William Loran McFarland Jr., G.T. McFarland, Loran Mcfarland, Bobby Joe McFarland, Lester McFarland Wheeler, Troy V. McFarland, Jackie Lynn McFarland, Buddy McFarland, John T. McFarland, Samuel Dale McFarland, Wardell Gray, Marjorie Garrison, and Cleo Kavanaugh.

Those left to cherish her memory include her siblings, Charles McFarland and wife Delores, Nancy McFarland Gordon, Pete McFarland and wife Debbie, and Myra Lang and husband Allen; along with numerous nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.

Pallbearers will be Trampas Shelton, Loran Shelton, Payton Shelton, Dominic Shelton, Jack McFarland, and Jackson McFarland.
