Tamera ‘Tammy’ Bultemeier Adams

Funeral services celebrating the life of Tamera ‘Tammy’ Adams, 69, of Winnfield, Louisiana, will be held at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, August 11, 2026, at First Baptist Church in Winnfield. Reverend Brian McAllister will be officiating with interment following at Garden of Memories Cemetery under the direction of Southern Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at First Baptist Church Monday, August 10, 2026 from 5:00 until 7:00 PM and Tuesday, August 11, from 9:00 AM until the time of the service at First Baptist Church.

Tammy was born on May 16, 1957 in Decatur, Indiana. Following graduation from Valparaiso University in Indiana, Tammy earned her Masters degree in social work from LSU. She then moved to Shreveport, Louisiana and worked for Volunteers of America and Holy Angels. Soon after, she met the love of her life, Steve, married, and moved to Winnfield where she would spend the rest of her days. She worked for the FINS program (Families in Need of Services) until she moved to her permanent home at the Winn Parish School Board where she served as the social worker for over 18 years.

Outside of work, Tammy devoted much of her time to serving others through First Baptist Church. She was active in Sunday School, a volunteer with Vacation Bible School, Judgement House, and many mission trips with children's groups, along with being a dedicated member of the Operation Christmas Child shoebox packing team. She also loved serving each week at the Community Food Pantry, where she helped keep things running smoothly in the office and, more often than not, could be found helping wherever else she was needed. That was Tammy. She was a doer. If something needed to be done, she didn’t stand around waiting for someone else to do it—she simply went to work. And she was not one to do anything halfway. Tammy was determined, hardworking, and, as those who knew her best would gladly tell you, she was certainly not lazy!

Tammy faced life with that same determination. When MS became part of her story, she never allowed it to become her identity. She refused to let a diagnosis tell her what she could or could not do, and she never used it as an excuse to stop living, working, serving, or loving the people around her. There were difficult days, but Tammy kept going. She showed up. She found a way. She gave what she had to give and then, more often than not, gave a little more. She had a strong spirit, a generous heart, and a stubborn streak that served her well. She loved her family, her church, her work, and her community, and she found purpose in being needed and being useful.

Those who knew Tammy will remember her not for what MS took from her, but for everything she continued to give in spite of it. They will remember her determination, her willingness to help, her quickness to get to work, and the genuine care she had for the people she served. Tammy spent her life making herself useful to others, and in doing so, she made herself deeply loved. She leaves behind a legacy of service, strength, and compassion—and she will be greatly missed by all who were fortunate enough to know and love her.

Tammy Adams passed away August 6, 2026. She is survived by her husband of 41 years, Steve Adams and son, Todd Michael Adams of Ruston; sister Diana Contreras and husband Juan of Tucson, AZ; sister Monica Lacy and husband Jeff of Benton, LA; brother Brent Bultemeier and wife Marie of Texarkana, TX; brother-in-law Delane Adams and wife Joyce of Winnfield; and mother-in-law Laverne Adams of Winnfield, along with numerous nieces and nephews who loved her dearly.

Tammy was preceded in death by her parents, Erwin and Lorna Bultemeier, brother, William Bultemeier, and father-in-law Crosby Adams, Jr.

Pallbearers will be Chad Adams, Alan Carter, Cody Cummings, Paul Harlan, Eddie Jenkins, and Wayne Smith. Honorary pallbearers will include Delane Adams and Bill Stewart, as well as nephews: Chris Adams, Taylor Adams, Jack Adams, Alex Adams, Logan Adams, and Dawson Adams.
