John Stephen "Steve" Thrasher was born on February 22, 1972, and passed away on Tuesday, April 11, 2023, at Glenwood Regional Medical Center in West Monroe, LA at the age of 51.

Steve grew up in Saline, LA and never strayed too far throughout his life.  Growing up he attended Saline High School where his fellow classmates were like family.  He was a great basketball player and played on the school's basketball team where he was proud to have taken part in Saline's historical four-time state championship winning streak in the early 90s.

Steve was known for bringing positive energy and joy with him everywhere he went.  He was always the life of the party.  He was so funny and fun to be around that you would find yourself smiling when you saw him coming.  No matter what was going on he was always able to put a humorous spin on things.

Steve was giving and kindhearted.  He never had much but would share whatever he had with whoever needed it.  He was always glad to lend a helping hand.  He was resourceful and could fix just about anything with whatever he could find lying around.

Steve believed his greatest blessings from God were his boys.  He was very proud of both and loved them very much.  He would often talk about their current antics with whoever would listen. Fishing was one of their favorite things to do together. After a big downpour you might find Steve and his boys testing their luck with their rods and reels at the local spillway or any creek that was running high.

Some of Steve's hobbies included cooking, eating, and watching movies, sometimes all at the same time.  He loved to eat ,and it brought him great joy to prepare a meal and share it.  He would conjure up any excuse to cook, such as the time he had to make the cat a birthday cake.  He made the best breakfast sandwiches that no one could ever duplicate.  If he wasn't cooking, you might find him binge watching movies.  He enjoyed pretty much all genres, from old westerns to science fiction.

Steve was tall and handsome and was blessed with the most unforgettable blue eyes that he passed on to his son Bailey. There will never be another Steve.  He was truly one of a kind.  He was not perfect, but nonetheless, he was dear to those who loved him.  There are no words that can describe how much he will be missed.

Steve is survived by his son, John Bailey Thrasher, his stepson Jordan Branch; parents, Patricia Durbin Thrasher and John Roy Thrasher; siblings, Robert Todd Thrasher, Scott Thrasher, Jennifer Weaver (Todd), Ashley Caskey (Chad); Nieces that held a special place in his heart, Christy Thrasher, Lori Feazell, and a host of other nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

Steve is preceded in death by his sister, Ramona Alison Feazell; Maternal grandparents, Bessie Gray Durbin and Patrick Pershing Durbin; Paternal grandparents, Juanita Allison Thrasher and Roy Thrasher

The family wishes to extend heartfelt thanks to the medical staff at both Jackson Parish Hospital and Glenwood Regional Medical Center for their life saving efforts.  A very special thank you to his Glenwood RMC ICU nurses Connor and Timothy.  Both were very professional and filled with kindness and compassion.  Timothy made sure that Steve was comfortable during the final heartbreaking moments of his life, and for this we are immensely grateful.
