Stephen Kary Brown, age 75, of Dodson, Louisiana, passed away peacefully at his residence on Wednesday, August 20, 2025. He was born on January 3, 1950, the son of the late Alvin Brown and the late Marie Bramlett Brown.

Mr. Brown was employed for many years as an auto and truck mechanic and also served with dedication as an employee of the Winn Parish Police Jury and was former Chief of Police of Dodson, Louisiana. Known for his strong work ethic and mechanical skill, he took pride in his trade and in serving his community. A passionate and lifelong supporter of the New Orleans Saints, he never missed an opportunity to cheer on his team. He also enjoyed camping, but above all, his greatest joy was found in the time he spent with his family.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings Karen Williams, Paul Brown, Pam Nobles and Sandra Brown.

Left to cherish his memory is his devoted wife of 57 years, Brenda Vines Brown; three children, Tony Brown, Keith Brown (Windi), and Nikki Frieu (Dave); four grandchildren, Kaitlyn (Blaine), Lillie, Kaleb, and Kyle. He also leaves behind special nephews Grey and Justin Brooks, chosen grandson Lucas Brooks, siblings Glenda Bond, James Brown, David Brown (Karen), and Peggy Brown; his brother-in-law, Phillip Vines (Terri); sister-in-law, Virginia Vines; along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, August 25, 2025, at Hurricane Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Ricky Vines officiating. Interment will follow in Hurricane Creek Cemetery under the direction of Southern Funeral Home of Winnfield.

Friends may visit with the family at Hurricane Creek Baptist Church on Sunday, August 24, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., and again on Monday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service.

Pallbearers will be Anthony Williams, Adam Cockerham, Danny Griffin, Logan Griffin, Paul Barnette, Justin Brooks, and serving as an honorary pallbearer will be Chris Brown.
