Shane Sanders, 69, passed away on April 9, 2026. He was born on May 27, 1956, in Baytown, Texas, to Norene Evans Sanders and Chester Robert Sanders, Jr.

Shane was one of seven children, growing up alongside four sisters and two brothers. At the age of 15, he moved with his parents and two younger sisters to Winnfield, Louisiana, where he would spend much of his life.

Over the years, Shane worked in a variety of fields, including lumber mills, the funeral business, and as a cook on a tugboat. He eventually found his calling as an electrician in the HVAC industry, working for himself—a role he took pride in. He began this work in Homer, Louisiana, before returning to Winnfield in 1999.

Shane was a private and independent man who lived life on his own terms. He found joy in cooking and was known to be a very good cook. He also enjoyed classic television and, from time to time, trying his luck at the casino.  Shane was an incredible artist of pencil and charcoal sketches and could play a mean banjo.  All of his artistic endeavors were self-taught.

Family was important to Shane in his own quiet way. He cared deeply for his siblings and was always willing to lend a hand when needed. He is remembered as a dependable brother and uncle, someone who showed up when it mattered most.

Shane is survived by his daughter, one grandson, his brothers and sisters, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

He will be remembered for his independence, his steady presence, and the simple ways he showed care to those around him.
