Sarah Anne Nicol, age 75 of Dodson, Louisiana passed away at her home on Saturday, September 9, 2023.

Born Wednesday, April 7, 1948 in Shreveport, Louisiana, she was preceded in death by her parents, Lucy Delores Gaar Sparkman and John A. Sparkman.

Sarah passed peacefully this morning, September 9th.  She had been battling cancer for the last twelve months, bravely enduring chemo, and continuing to enjoy life until just a few weeks ago. She was still driving, supervising our gardens, occasionally playing bridge, disciplining our dogs and critiquing our food into August and was able to spend a couple weeks in Mercer in July.  She had to be admitted to the ICU at Rapides August 31st but came home on hospice care September 5th.

We had all been preparing for this day over the last year but were stunned by the speed with which her health declined due to this particular cancer and had hoped to have her home with us a little longer.  Sarah was a wonderful wife, mother and friend to so many. She was 75 years of age and we have been married 52 years  Jimmy, Meghan, Charlie and I are doing okay.  Sarah will certainly  be missed but in our hearts forever.

Sarah's wish is to be cremated.  There will be a small private memorial services for the family later this year and her remains interred in our family gravesite next to her Mother and Father at the New Hope Cemetery here in Gaars Mill, Louisiana.
