Samuel Austin Harris, 84, of Goldonna, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 11, 2024, in Ruston, Louisiana. Born on March 16, 1940, in Goldonna, Samuel lived his entire life in the community he loved.

Samuel proudly served his country as a United States Marine during the Vietnam War. He was a retired logger by trade, and a longtime member of the Goldonna Assembly of God Church, where he found fellowship and friendship. Samuel was known for his love of the outdoors, particularly fox and squirrel hunting. His skill in training squirrel dogs was admired by many, and he was seen as a father figure to many in the Goldonna area.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Zelma Harris; his beloved wife, Dannie Adams Harris; his siblings, Walterine Martin, Mollie Carter, and Doug Harris; and his nephews, Keith and Clyde Carter and Larry Bedgood.

Samuel is survived by his loving wife of 19 years, Judy Melton Harris; his stepdaughter, Renee Lynn (Jeff); his stepson, Mark Keyes (Tiffani); seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews who will remember him fondly.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects at the Goldonna Assembly of God Church on Friday, September 13, 2024, from 3:00 PM until time of services on on Saturday, September 14, 2024.  Funeral services will be held at the church on Saturday, September 14, 2024, at 10:00 AM, with Rev. Tim Harris officiating. Samuel will be laid to rest at Goldonna Cemetery, under the direction of Southern Funeral Home of Winnfield.

Pallbearers will be Austin Harris, Taylor Harris, Dillon Harris, Micah Keyes Lynn, Britton Keyes, Rafe Keyes, and Daniel Keyes.  Honorary pallbearers will be Jeremy Babers, Arnold Ray Bedgood, Douglas Dortlon, and Justin Boyett.
