Ruthene "Penny" Beaubouef Thompson, age 79 of Joyce, Louisiana entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, April 11, 2023.

Born Wednesday, December 22, 1943 in Deville, Louisiana, she was preceded in death by her parents, Rev. Hardy Beaubouef, Sr.and Mattie Lee Hickman Beaubouef; and her husband, Wilford "Red" Thompson,

Penny was a wonderful, loving wife, mother, mawmaw and Gigi. She loved her family and her United Baptist Church family very much. She loved the Lord with all her heart and in the last two years, unable to get out of her bed due to problems with her legs and feet, she longed to go back to her church and be with her church family to sit and hear God's word being preached. She had many many loving memories of her childhood, and later her own family she loved to talk about. When someone came to visit her she would ask them to please pray for God to heal her legs enough so she would be able to walk and get back to her church. Penny received answers to those prayers on April 11, 2023, when God took her home. Though this is a very sad time for us, some of her last words were, "Don't worry about me, I'll be alright." She is in her heavenly home jumping, running, and praising God now.

Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Kellie Horn (Jimmy); her son, Paul Thompson (Bonita); grandchildren, Summer Hernandez (Kenny), Jeremiah Horn (Megan), and Cheyenne Thompson; great grandchildren, Gunner Hernandez, Sophie Horn, Drake Horn, and Dixxie Hernandez; her sisters, Glynda Norris (Gary), Evalain McIlwain (Leo), and Regina Kelly; brothers, Hardy Beaubouef, Jr. (Peggy), Kenneth Beaubouef (Patsy), Willie Beaubouef (Daneen), Hudey Beaubouef (Vickie), Eugene Beaubouef (Becky), Bobby Beaubouef (Dwanna), and Ronnie Beaubouef (Terry).

The family will receive friends on Thursday, April 13, 2023, at Southern Funeral Home, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM , and again on Friday, April 14, 2023, at Southern Funeral Home, from 8:00 AM until time of services.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, April 14, 2023 at Southern Funeral Home with Rev. Brad Jones, Rev. Gary Norris, and Rev. Willie Beaubouef officiating. Interment will follow in Cypress Creek Cemetery, near Dodson.

Serving the family as pallbearers will be Dwayne Kilpatrick, Jeremiah Horn, Kenny Hernandez, Brandon Jones, Kent Hatfield, and Darrel Grant.
