Mrs. Ruth Irislene Walker Wheat, age 87 of Montgomery, Louisiana passed away on Saturday, March 4, 2023.

Born Thursday, November 28, 1935 in Fields, Louisiana, she was preceded in death by her parents, John and Artie Hyatt Walker; husband, Ray Wheat; daughter, Martha Wheat Specht; siblings, Pauline Weir, Nelvaline Addy and Illene Walker.

Mrs. Wheat was a devoted member of Nantachie United Pentecostal Church where she served as Sunday School teacher, pianist and secretary/treasurer. She enjoyed genealogy, Sudoku puzzle books and will be remembered as a great cook.

Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Elizabeth Wheat Bush (Ron); grandchildren, Daniel Bryant, Josie Bush and Tanner Bush; siblings, Clarence Walker and Maxine Johnson.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, March 7, 2023 at Nantachie United Pentecostal Church, 3983 Hwy. 71, Montgomery, LA with Rev. Nathanael Young officiating. Interment will follow in Hargis Cemetery under the direction of Southern Funeral Home of Winnfield.

The family will receive friends at the church on Monday from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM and again on Tuesday from 10:00 AM until time of services.

Serving the family as pallbearers will be Jason Walker, John Walker, Craig Steelman, Terry Steelman, Dayne Waxley and Lonnie Silk.
