Roger Joseph Lacoy, age 81, passed away peacefully at his residence in Goldonna, Louisiana, on Tuesday, July 22, 2025. Roger Jo truly lived until he died, and he went to be with Jesus while working in his yard, which he always kept immaculate.

He was born on August 28, 1943, in Lowell, Massachusetts, to the union of George L. Lacoy and Alice Drapeau Lacoy. A proud veteran of the United States Navy, he served on the USS Power from 1962 through 1968.  Following his honorable discharge from the Navy, he went on to meet his loving wife, Betty and the rest they say, is history. Roger began working in the oilfield in the late 1960s continuing his career for 40 years before retiring. During his career, he was known for his steadfast work ethic, quiet strength, and commitment to his family and was affectionately known as "drill daddy".  He never forgot to greet Betty Jo with a rose upon return home of each hitch.

A man of integrity and perseverance, Roger embodied the words of 2 Timothy 4:7: "I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith." He lived out his days with honor, loyalty, and a deep devotion to those he loved.

Roger was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 55 years, Betty Kolb Lacoy; his daughter, Sonya Fourcade; his parents, George L. and Alice Drapeau Lacoy; three brothers; two sisters; and three grandchildren.

Left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Pam Lacoy Harris and husband Tim; his son, Scott Lacoy and wife Ronda; and his daughter, Kristi Lacoy Baxley and husband Anthony. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Anthony "Bear" Churchman, Cole Churchman, Jacob Churchman, Jaclyn Kees, Lauren Senecal, Brandon Lacoy, Dr. Garret Lambert, and Thomas Lambert; numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews; and his sister, Carol Girouard.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 26, 2025, at Goldonna Assembly of God, with Brandon Lacoy and Rev. Tim Harris officiating. Interment will follow in Goldonna Cemetery under the direction of Southern Funeral Home of Winnfield.
