Mr. Rickey Joe Garner, Sr., age 68, of Jonesboro, Louisiana, passed away on Saturday, June 12, 2026, in Jonesboro. Born on July 19, 1957, Rickey was a loving and devoted husband and father who treasured the time he spent with his family. He especially loved going places with his youngest son, Rickey, Jr. The two were inseparable and shared countless hours together fishing, hunting, sitting around talking, and laughing. Rickey was known for his comical nature and his ability to tell a great story. Whether sharing memories, jokes, or tales from years gone by, he had a way of bringing smiles to those around him and making every gathering more enjoyable.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ted Garner; his mother, Doris Calendar Garner; his son, Scott Allen Garner; and his siblings, Virginia Parker, Betty Roshto, and Teddy Wayne Garner.
Those left to cherish his memory include his beloved wife of 34 years, Jamie Brown Garner of Jonesboro, who faithfully stood by his side through life's joys and challenges and remained devoted to him throughout their years together; his children, Roxie Turner and husband Joshua, Ricky Joe Garner, Jr., and David Brown; his sister, Wanda McDaniel; five grandchildren; along with numerous extended family members and friends.
Friends may visit with the family at Southern Funeral Home on Friday, June 19, 2026, from 12:30 p.m. until 1:45 p.m. Graveside services will be held at Old Union Cemetery on Friday, June 19, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Author Robinson officiating.
Pallbearers will be: Joey Wells, Klint Womack, Kade Womack, Joshua Turner, JD Morgan, and Ben Sherpa's.
The family will forever cherish the memories of Rickey's laughter, his stories, and the love he shared so freely with those around him. His presence will be deeply missed, but his legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
