Mr. Richard "Wesley" McAllister, affectionately known as "Unc", passed away peacefully at the age of 83 on February 10th, 2026, at his home in Winnfield, Louisiana, surrounded by his loving family. Born on November 18th, 1942, in Waterproof, Louisiana, Wesley was a man who found joy in the great outdoors, whether gardening, hunting, or fishing, which was his true passion.

Wesley was a dedicated member of Union Baptist Church, where he cherished the fellowship with his church family. His faith was a cornerstone of his life, and he was deeply involved in his religious community.

He proudly served his country as a Private First Class E-3 in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, earning several commendations for his service, including the Driver & Mechanic Badge, Expert (Rifle M-14), Vietnam Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and Vietnam Commendation Medal. Wesley took immense pride in being a U.S. Veteran.

Wesley was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 50 years, Barbara McAllister, his parents, Richard Barrod and Hattie Mae McAllister, and several siblings and a great-great-granddaughter. He leaves behind a loving family, including his sons, James Barron McAllister and Bruce Kevin McAllister, his daughter Brandy Dawn Coleman, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and siblings, along with numerous nieces and nephews who will all cherish his memory.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Friday, February 13, 2026 at Old Union Baptist Church in Joyce with Reverends Brian McAllister and Mike Green officiating. Interment will follow in in the Union Cemetery.  Services are under the direction of Southern Funeral Home of Winnfield. Friends and family are invited to pay their respects during visitation at the church on Thursday from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Friday from 12:00 p.m. (noon) until time of services.

Those serving the family as pallbearers will be Rockie Ramshur, Josh McAllister, Danny McAllister, Bradley McAllister, Ross Cockerham, and Steve Cockerham.  Honorary pallbearers will be Alex McAllister, Ricky Desadier, Spencer Desadier, Jason McAllister, and Stefan Burdette.

Wesley will be remembered for his love of family, his dedication to his country, and his unwavering faith. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
