Philip Matthew Allen, age 63, was born September 6, 1958 and passed from this life on Monday, February 21, 2022. He was a loving husband, proud father and grandfather, beloved son and brother. Philip was a native of Winnfield, Louisiana and a twenty-year resident of Summit, Mississippi.

Visitation will be held in his honor at Southern Funeral Home in Winnfield on Saturday, February 26, 2022 from 10:00 AM until 1:00 PM with a funeral service to follow at 1:00 PM. A gravesite service will immediately follow at Zion Hill Baptist Church in Tannehill, LA.
Philip is survived by his best friend, wife and caretaker, Christy, their son Jason and stepson, Samuel, his 3-daughters Amanda, Leah (Andrew) and Lauren (Greg); 5-grandchildren Hunter, Hayden, Lilah, Abram, and Lucas. Philip is also survived by his parents, Jason and Sharon Bedgood of Winnfield and brothers Ken (Dee) and Kerry (Dru).

He was preceded in death by his father, John Dale Allen, his grandson Odin Ray, his paternal grandparents, Earl and Ruby Allen, Ed and Florene Bedgood, and his maternal grandparents, H.D. and Ellen Jordan. Philip served his country and was a US Airforce veteran. His upbringing, having been so influenced by his grandparents, loved God's great outdoors both on the water and in the woods. He was one who not only treasured growing an annual spring and fall garden but was anxious to share with anyone its yield of fresh vegetables. He was convinced that life's simplest and most complex issues were best resolved over a simple cup of coffee and if you were ever invited to share a cup, you were very special to him. Philip was not only the benefactor of eternal life from God's 'Amazing Grace' through salvation but the Lord was gracious to
grant an extension of earthly life having been the recipient of a double lung transplant of over three years. To his best friend, he was her 'Fred' and she, his 'Lucy'. To his family and friends he'll be deeply missed, yet his memory forever treasured.

In honor of Philip, donations can be made on his behalf to 'The National Foundation for Transplants'.
