Patsy Ruth Smith Prince of Winnfield, Louisiana peacefully departed this world on December 30, 2023 at Autumn Leaves Nursing Home in Winnfield.  Patsy was born October 31, 1931 in Winnfield, to P.B. Smith and Edna Collins Smith.

Patsy attended Winnfield Senior High where she played basketball and was a member of Louisiana Girls State.  Patsy attended Northwestern State University graduating with a Nursing degree, beginning her career at Martins Hospital in Winnfield.  It was at this hospital where she met her husband of 40 beautiful years, John Carvel Prince of Winnfield.   They were married on May 7, 1955 in Tannehill, Louisiana.  After John's death in 1995, Patsy continued on with the rest of her life exhibiting grace, inner strength and true faith in her Savior, Jesus Christ.  Her Bible was her guide and she leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories.

Preceded in death by her parents, P.B. and Edna Collins Smith, husband John Carvel Prince and her sister, Nellie Rose Smith Rudd, Patsy is survived by her son, John Carvel Prince, Jr and his wife Mona Langan Prince of Slidell, Louisiana and their son Andrew Carvel Prince, MD and his wife Anna Carolina Prince of Chapel Hill, North Carolina.  Her daughter Patti Kathleen Prince of Winnfield, Louisiana, sister Mary Beth Cates of Shreveport, Louisiana as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 6, 2024 from 10:00 am until service time at Southern Funeral Home in Winnfield Graveside services will be held at Garden of Memories Cemetery in Winnfield at 11:00 AM.

The family would like to say a heartfelt thanks to all the staff of Autumn Leaves Nursing Home of Winnfield for the tremendous care and love shown to Patsy.
