Patsy Heflin
Mcmanus
Dec 4, 1935 — Dec 11, 2023
Atlanta
Patsy Faye Heflin McManus, age 88 of Atlanta, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 11th, 2023 at Christus St. Frances Cabrini Hospital in Alexandria, Louisiana.
Pat was born on December 4th, 1935 in Leton, Louisiana to Sam C. Heflin and Nettie Lucille Lee. She was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Elizabeth Anne "Becky" McManus; and her husband, Lt. Col. Ray V. McManus, USAF. She is survived by her sister, Marie Reeves; her brother, Talmadge Heflin; daughter, Patti Otto-DeGrendel (Ray); her son, William McManus (Rae); her grandchildren, Robert Otremba (Sonia), Patricia "Trish" Otremba (Mike), and Meredith McManus; and a great-granddaughter, Addison "Addy" Otremba.
As a military wife, Pat led an active and adventurous life with her family. She traveled across America and was a pillar of strength for her family, while her husband was deployed in Vietnam. Entertaining loved ones was a favorite pastime of hers. Pat was a wonderful homemaker, a talented cook, and an unparalleled seamstress. For decades, she only wore clothes she made herself, and she was always the best-looking in the room. Her crochet crafts were always coveted Christmas presents and will be treasured by those who remember her. Her proudest achievement, though, was being a loving and supportive mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Pat was also a dedicated member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Crescent Chapter #64 in Jonesboro, Louisiana for several decades. She attended meetings regularly and never arrived empty-handed. Her home-baked desserts were made lovingly and were always a hit.
Pat will be missed dearly by all who loved her. She treasured her friends and family and was treasured in return. In her last year of life, everyone she met noted her kindness, her upbeat spirit, and her inner strength. She was a devoted Baptist, and after a beautiful 88 years on Earth, she has returned to the Lord and the loved ones waiting for her.
Visitation will be Thursday, December 14, 2023 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Southern Funeral Home in Winnfield. The funeral will be at 11:00 am on Friday, December 15, 2023 with an hour of visitation beforehand. Interment at Mars Hill Cemetery in Atlanta, Louisiana will follow.
