Nina Bonita Martin, beloved member of the Calvin community, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 11, 2024, in Natchitoches, Louisiana, at the age of 87.
She was born on Friday, July 10, 1936, in Chopin, Louisiana, to Christopher Columbus Guin and Mabel Guin.
Nina was a dedicated member of Calvin Baptist Church, The Kisatchie Quilters, and The Eastern Star. Her commitment to her community was evident in her 31 years of service as the secretary of Calvin High School, where she touched the lives of countless students and colleagues.
She is preceded in death by her father, Christopher Columbus Guin, her mother, Mabel Guin, her husband, John Henry Martin, and her siblings Agnes, Jewel, R.L., Horace, and Bill,
Nina will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by her surviving family members: her daughters, Bonnie Trichel and Renae Harper (Rickey), her son, William Martin (Brandi), as well as her 9 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends..
Friends and family are invited to pay their respects during the public visitation at First Baptist Church of Calvin on Thursday, May 16, 2024, from 10:00 AM to service time. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 AM, also at First Baptist Church of Calvin, with Rev. Billy Ver Hoef officiating. Interment will take place at Sanders Chapel Cemetery under the direction of Southern Funeral Home of Winnfield.
Serving the family as pallbearers will be Cody Martin, Bruce Harper, John Kendell Wise, Collin Martin, Hunter Garrett, David Nugent and Brinton Brown. Honorary pallbearers will be Sonny Nugent, Tommy Martin and Jacob Martin.
