Tyrone lived a life characterized by hard work, dedication, and profound love for his family.
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Tyrone Satellite Gongre, who departed this life on August 11, 2026, at the age of 81. Born on March 12, 1945, in Natchitoches, Louisiana, Tyrone lived a life characterized by hard work, dedication, and profound love for his family.
Tyrone, a proud National Guard veteran, spent many years serving his country and subsequently built a fulfilling career as a truck driver in the freight industry. He attended Hargis Baptist Church. Tyrone was a native of Natchitoches and loved music, particularly old country and gospel. He never met a stranger, he loved visiting with people, and above all spending time with his grandchildren. Tyrone enjoyed fishing and was known by his CB handle, "Satellite". His commitment to his profession and his unwavering sense of duty will always be remembered by those who knew him.
He is survived by his beloved children, daughter Shannon Gray and son Cody Gongre, as well as his cherished grandchildren, Jessica, Hunter, and Cadence. Also surviving is his beloved furbaby, Marley. Tyrone's legacy of love, strength, and kindness will continue to resonate in their lives and in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Funeral services will be held at Hargis Baptist Church at 10:00 AM Saturday, August 15, 2026, with Rev. Alan LaCroix officiating. Interment will follow at Saint Maurice Cemetery under the direction of Southern Funeral Home. Friends may visit with the family at the church from 9:00 AM until service time.
As we gather to celebrate the life of Tyrone Satellite Gongre, we invite all who knew him to join in these ceremonies, reflecting on a life well-lived and the lasting impact he has had on those around him. His spirit will forever live on in the memories we share.
Tyrone was preceded in death by his parents, Keator Gongre, Irene Martin Gongre, his son, Kevin Tyrone Gongre, and brother, David Gongre
