Milton Tyrone “Satellite” Gongre

Funeral services celebrating the life of Milton Tyrone Gongre, 81, of Montgomery, Louisiana, will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, August 15, 2026, at Hargis Baptist Church. Reverend Alan LaCroix will be officiating with interment following at Saint Maurice Cemetery under the direction of Southern Funeral Home. Friends may visit with the family, at the church on Saturday, from 9:00 AM until service time.

Tyrone was born on March 12, 1945, in Natchitoches, Louisiana, and grew up in Montgomery. He passed away on August 11, 2026, at the age of 81. Tyrone was a hardworking man who took great pride in providing for his family and in the work he did throughout his life.

He proudly served his country as a member of the National Guard before beginning a career as a truck driver in the freight industry. Tyrone enjoyed being on the road and was known to many by his CB handle, “Satellite.”

A man who never met a stranger, Tyrone enjoyed visiting with people and could always find time for a good conversation. He was a member of Hargis Baptist Church and had a great love for music, especially old country and gospel. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, but his greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren. His family and the time he shared with them were among the things he treasured most. He was also especially fond of his beloved furbaby, Marley.

Tyrone was preceded in death by his parents, Keator Gongre and Irene Martin Gongre; his son, Kevin Tyrone Gongre; and his brother, David Gongre.

Those left to cherish his memory include his daughter, Shannon Gray; his son, Cody Gongre; his grandchildren, Jessica, Hunter, and Cadence; and his beloved furbaby, Marley. He will also be remembered by numerous other relatives, friends, and loved ones.

Tyrone will be remembered for his hardworking nature, his love of family, his enjoyment of good music and conversation, and the friendships he made along the way. The memories he created with those he loved will remain with them for years to come.
