Melvin "Mel" D Kidd, age 82 of Sikes, Louisiana passed away on Monday, August 12, 2024. Born Thursday, December 25, 1941 in Winnfield, Louisiana, he was preceded in death by his parents, Maxie Kidd and Virgie E Kidd; siblings, Maxine Kidd and Freddie Kidd.

Mr. Kidd retired from Kansas City Southern Railroad after 42 years of employment. He was a 1959 graduate of Sikes High School. He was a veteran of the Louisiana National Guard where he served for six years. Melvin spent most of his working life in Arkansas. He loved deer and squirrel hunting and spend time on his 140 acres near Sikes.

Those left to cherish his memory include his siblings, Garland Kidd (Mary) of Atlanta, Louisiana, and Diane Bratton of Ashville, North Carolina; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, August 15, 2024 at Friendship Cemetery with Dane Reeves officiating. Interment will follow in Friendship  Cemetery, in Sikes.

Serving the family as pallbearers will be Garland Kidd, Dane Reeves, Tanner Reeves, Payton Bond, Mervin Parker, and David Finklea.

In lieu of flowers, the family requestsdonations be made to St. Jude Childrens Hospital 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, Tenn. 38105
