Maxine Transue, a resident of Jonesboro, passed away peacefully in Ruston on October 3, 2025, at the age of 87. A 1956 graduate of Jonesboro-Hodge High School, Maxine devoted her life to caring for her family and home. She found joy in sewing, nurturing her beautiful flower garden, and worshiping the Lord as a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Jonesboro.

Maxine is survived by her son, John Wayne Fitzpatrick; grandson, Kenny Wayne Fitzpatrick; great-grandson, Caden Fitzpatrick; sister, Faye Schmidt; niece, Ann Fitzpatrick Henderson (Sammy); special niece, Melanie (Free) Ford (Todd); daughter-in-law, Paula K. Landreneau (Bob); brother-in-law, Charles Free; nieces, Patricia Tapp and Sandy Gilbert; nephew, Robert Schmidt, Jr.; and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Harvel and Robbie Gray; Grandparents, John R. and Laura Gray who raised her; first husband, Wayne Fitzpatrick; second husband , George Transue; son, Kenneth Ray Fitzpatrick; sister, Murline Free; brother-in-law, Bobby Schmidt; and nephew, Mike Schmidt.

As per Maxine's wishes, she will be cremated. The family will announce their plans for her memorial service at a later date.
