Mary Jane Harrison "Sis" Welch, 95 of Jena, Louisiana entered into Heaven on Monday, January 27, 2025, surrounded by her loving family at her residence in Jena, Louisiana.
She was born Sunday, January 12, 1930, in Eudora, Arkansas, to the union of Henry C. and Mary Johnson Harrison.
"Sis" as she was affectionally known by her family and friends was a homemaker and a stay-at-home grandmother to all of her cherished grandchildren. She was a founding member of the Green Thumb Garden Club as well as the Town and Country Garden Club. She was very grounded in her faith and had been a Christian her entire life.
She was preceded in death by her husband Norman Welch of 61 ½ years, parents, Henry C. and Mary Johnson Harrison; brothers, Henry C. Harrison, Jr., Eddie Harrison; and son-in-law, Ned McCann.
Those left to love and cherish her memory are her children, David Welch & wife Ann of Houston, TX., Lisa Welch McCann of Jena, her brother, George "Sonny" Harrison, three grandchildren Jerod McCann (Sara), Mica King (Brant), and Ben McCann (Amy), five great-grandchildren Ava McCann, Abram McCann, Cooper King, Kensley King, and Parker King, and a host of other family and friends.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM on Saturday at Nolley Memorial Methodist Church with the Rev. Daniel Hixon officiating. "Sis" will be laid to rest in the Nolley Memorial Cemetery, of Jena under the directions of Kinner & Stevens Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM on Saturday, February 1, 2025, at Nolley Memorial Methodist Church of Jena, Louisiana.
Those honored to serve "Sis" and her family as pallbearers are Jerod McCann, Ben McCann, Brant King, Keith Welch, Randy Welch, Kip Wall, and Keith Tarver. Serving as an honorary pallbearers will be George "Uncle Sonny" Harrison and Harry Welch.
Her contributions to the community will certainly be missed by all who had the opportunity to know and cherish her friendship.
