Mark Steven Machen, a beloved father, husband, brother, and friend, passed away on Thursday, July 20, 2023, at the age of 60. He was born on March 21, 1963, in Natchitoches, Louisiana.

Mark graduated from Winnfield Sr. High School, and throughout his life, he touched the hearts of many. He was preceded in death by his father, James R. Machen, and his granddaughter, Elizabeth Hope Herring.

Left to cherish his memory are his mother, Claudia Connor Machen, Mother of his children Margie Machen and his three beloved daughters: Meredith Morris (Tyler), Megan Herring (Jared), and Sarah Wells (Louden). Mark's pride and joy were his eight grandchildren: Kyleigh, Brayton, Gavin, Owen, Paden, Lachlen, Emery, and Lily, who brought immense happiness into his life.

Survivors also include Mark's brothers, Mike Machen (Jennifer) and Matt Machen (Michelle). He also leaves behind cherished friends, Eddie and Jennifer Quitta, as well as several nieces and nephews who held a special place in his heart.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 24, 2023, in the Southern Funeral Home Chapel, with Dr. Mark Melder officiating. Friends may visit at the funeral home from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services.

A private interment will take place at a later date in the Garden of Memories Cemetery in Winnfield.
