Margie Lee Hatten Parker, 87, of Sikes, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 18, 2024, in Pineville, Louisiana. Margie was born on Tuesday, December 15, 1936, in Sikes to the late Mike Hatten and Vorine Crain Hatten.

Margie found joy in the simple pleasures of life, like sitting on her porch watching hummingbirds and tending to her flower garden. She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother—a true embodiment of the virtuous woman described in Proverbs 31. Her life mirrored the passage: "She opens her hand to the poor and reaches out her hands to the needy... Her children rise up and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her... A woman who fears the Lord is to be praised" (Proverbs 31:20, 28, 30). Margie was a pillar of strength and support for her family and her community, always there when she was needed most. She had a gift for cooking, and many family gatherings were blessed by the meals she lovingly prepared for family and friends.

Margie was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James "Cornie" Parker; her father, Mike Hatten; her mother, Vorine Crain Hatten; and her brother, James W. "Sonny" Hatten.

She is survived by her loving children, Gary M. Parker (Denise), Brenda Parker Byington (Fred), and Sandra Parker Rachal (Dana); her cherished grandchildren, Jeremy Brossette (Katie), Mitch Parker, and Nola Parker Day (Josh); and her precious great-grandchildren, Brayden and Isabella Brossette, Daniel Medine, Luke Day, and Olivia Brossette, extended family members, including Rufus and Bailey Jones, Emily, Parker, and Kori Frost, Elizabeth, Colton, and Amelia Pfeifer, Jeremy, Erin, Grayson, and Whitleigh Edwards, and Torri Mercer.  Margie also leaves behind her sister Dorothy Hatten Parker and one niece Angie Hatten Carpenter.

Pallbearers will be Gary Parker, Mitch Parker, Dana Rachal, Fred Byington, Jeremy Edwards, and Rufus Jones. Honorary pallbearer will be Jeremy Brossette.

A visitation will be held on Monday, October 21, 2024, from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM at Friendship Baptist Church in Sikes, Louisiana. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 AM, officiated by Rev. Mike Green. Interment will take place at Friendship Cemetery.
