Mae Ellen Higdon Griffin went home today, January 9, 2025, around 9:15 am. She was surrounded by her two daughters Kimberly and Elizabeth and her son-in-law Larry.

Mae Ellen was predeceased by her husband Joseph Griffin, by her father William "Buddy" Higdon and her mother Ila Mae Higdon Pender, and by her daughter Jo Ellen Griffin Euson. She is survived by her daughters Gail Griffin Smith, Elizabeth Griffin, and Kimberly Griffin Miles, her sons-in law Larry Miles, Mark Smith and David Euson, as well as her grandchildren Gary Griffin, Nicholas Griffin, Anthony Blake, Nathen Blake, Justin Smith and Gentry Smith and by her great granddaughters Kristina, Alyssa and Joules Griffin.

For those who knew Mae Ellen, they knew she loved God with all her heart, loved and cherished her family and was happiest with her hands in the dirt planting something. She was a hard worker with an incredible work ethic, spending more than 40 years working for Tremont Lumber through numerous ownerships, retiring as a supervisor at the end of her career there.

Mae Ellen loved her Pleasant Hill Church family and community. She lived a full and blessed life and spent her last days with family and friends and her beloved dog Pooh in her home, just as she wanted.

Funeral services honoring and remembering the life of Mae Ellen will be held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, January 14th  at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church With Reverends Norris Curry and Joe Evans officiating.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery under the direction of Southern Funeral Home of Winnfield.

Friends may visit with the family in the church on Monday from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. and also on Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until time of services.
