Mr. Louis Albert Franks, 94, of Calvin, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 3, 2025. He was born on January 7, 1931, in Shreveport, Louisiana, and dedicated his life to his family, faith, country, and community.

A proud veteran, Mr. Franks honorably served in the United States Air Force, retiring as a Master Sergeant after a distinguished career as a Missile Technician. His exemplary service earned him several accolades, including being named Non-Commissioned Officer (NCO) of the Year at Holloman Air Force Base, New Mexico, and Senior NCO of the Year at Edwards Air Force Base, California. He was also a graduate of the Non-Commissioned Officer Academy and was awarded the Air Force Commendation Medal. His expertise in missile systems was further recognized with the prestigious Master Missile Badge. During his career, he worked at the Air Force Rocket Propulsion Laboratory at Edwards Air Force Base, contributing to critical advancements in aerospace technology.

A man of deep faith, Mr. Franks was a devoted member of Sanders Chapel Community Church. He was also a longtime Mason, serving as a Past Master of Calvin Lodge No. 431, F&AM. His Masonic affiliations included the Scottish Rite Bodies of Monroe, the York Rite Bodies of Winnfield, the Red Cross of Constantine, the Ouachita Conclave, and Palestine Chapter No. 55, Order of the Eastern Star, where he served as Past Patron.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Lynn Garrett Franks; his son, Michael Louis Franks; and his daughter, Karen Lynn Franks.
Left to cherish his memory are his daughter-in-law, Sue Franks of Wills Point, TX; his grandson, Shaun Franks; his nephew, Jimmy Ray Franks (Hilda); his sister-in-law, Dorothy Sivess; his nephews Harry Sivess (Karen), Bill Sivess (Kathi), Stanley Vernon Garrett (Suzan); and numerous other nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. He was also blessed with the care and friendship of his special caregiver, Eva Waller, and the Compassionate Care Hospice,  Ashley Wells, RN, and CNA Laura.

Family and friends are invited to visitation at Southern Funeral Home on Thursday, February 6, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, and again on Friday, February 7, 2025, from 1:00 PM until the time of service at 2:00 PM. Funeral services will be held at Southern Funeral Home on Friday, February 7, 2025, at 2:00 PM, with Rev. Leonard McDaniel officiating. Interment, with military and Masonic honors, will follow at Sanders Chapel Cemetery.
