Mr. Lonnie Oliver, age 76 of Winnfield, Louisiana passed away on Friday, March 10, 2023.

Born Sunday, January 19, 1947 in Gadsden, Alabama, he was preceded in death by his mother, Bertha Williams Oliver Burns; his father, William Oliver; and his step-father, Arthur Burns.

Mr. Oliver lived a rich life. He received his Bachelor's Degree in Aerospace Engineering from Auburn University and worked as a draftsman for McDonnell-Douglas in California. He enlisted in the US Air Force and was stationed at Texas, California, Maine, Louisiana, and Washington. He was honorably discharged as a Captain in the US Air Force.

As an entrepreneur, Mr. Oliver owned and operated a 7-11 franchise. He then returned to college obtaining a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Eastern Washington University and a Master of Accountancy from Gonzaga University in Washington. During his college years, he even had a part time job making his favorite pastry, donuts. Once he earned his CPA certification, he moved to Washington D.C to take a job with the Department of Justice. He retired from the Department of Homeland Security in 2009.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 50 years, Maxima Oliver; his daughter, Genevieve Casares (Daniel) of Eugene, Oregon; and his grandchildren, Jack Oliver Casares, William Daniel Casares, and Mary Rose Casares; and numerous family and friends.

A rosary service will be held on Saturday, March 18, 2023, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, from 5:30 PM until 6:30 PM.

Memorial services and dinner will begin at 6:30 PM on Saturday, March 18, 2023 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church.

Honorary pallbearers will be Melvin Williams, Daniel Casares, Dave Williams, Danny Ray Sullivan, and Jimmy Brazzell.
