Ms. Lois Evelyn Gilbert ascended to her Heavenly Home for a joyful reunion on Thursday, February 9, 2023. She was born to the union of Porter C. and Francis Rachal Scallion on October 26, 1941 in Goldonna, Louisiana. After raising her children, she went back to school to achieve her dream of becoming a nurse. Ms. Evelyn spent her working career in the medical field as a CNA instructor and served the medical field as an LPN. She was a devoted mother and grandmother, loved to scrapbook, and was a wonderful cook.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Porter C. and Francis Rachal Scallion; husband Donald Wayne Gilbert, Sr.; Janet Denise Gilbert; and Emma Claire Gill.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Diane Gilbert of Calvin; Donna Bates and husband Larry of Winnfield; Darlene Gilbert of Columbia, and Don Gilbert, Jr. and wife Debbie of Coushatta; sister, Helen Weaver of Shreveport; grandchildren, Darla Gill and husand Ryan of Brewton's Mill; Ryan Bates and wife Erin of Stonewall; Jania Bascoe and husband Nathan; Chase Walsworth of Bienville; Whitney Robinson and husband Colvin; Beth Giddings and husband Trey of Coushatta; Caitlin Whisonant and husband Kyle of Chatham; Chelsea Boykin of New Orleans; Mallory Gilbert of Coushatta; and sixteen great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at Southern Funeral Home on Saturday, February 11, 2023, from 5:00PM until 8:00PM, and then again on Sunday, February 12, 2023 from 1:00PM until time of services.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:30PM on Sunday, February 12, 2023 in the chapel of Southern Funeral Home with Rev. Lamar Carpenter officiating. Interment will follow in Sander's Chapel Cemetery.

Those honored to serve the family as pallbearers are Ryan Bates, Chase Walsworth, Trent Ledbetter, Kaidyn Williams, Ryan Gill, and Kyle Whisonant. Honorary pallbearers are Jack Robinson, Gage Giddings, Burch Gill, Cutler Whisonant, Lander Bascoe, River Bates, and Hagen Walsworth.

The family wishes to thank those who have served as sitters for Ms. Evelyn, Cathy Flowers, Elizabeth Hoffman, Hannah Steele, Brandi Racine, LaFawn Davis, and LaShanda Pastell.
