Mrs. Linda Weatherford will always be remembered as a sweet and loving mother and grandmother. She cherished singing to her babies and was an avid karaoke singer, through which she made many dear friends, particularly those at the Moose Lodge, whom she considered extended family.

Linda was born on September 14, 1944, in Winn Parish and was 79 years old. She graduated from Atlanta High School and remained close with many of her classmates throughout her life. She had a deep affection for her "Five Forks" neighbors and her beloved sisters-in-law.

On June 2, 1962, Linda married Charles Douglas Weatherford, the love of her life and the father of her children. He preceded her in death, and we find comfort in knowing they are reunited in heaven, embraced by their family and their Lord, Jesus Christ.

She was a fighter and like the Apostle Paul, she fought a good fight, she finished her course, she kept the faith and believed that henceforth there is laid up for her a crown of rightenousness, with the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give her and not to her only but unto all those that love his appearing.

Together, Linda and Doug were blessed with four children: Bruce Weatherford (married to Cindy), Brenda Phillips (married to Mike), Scott Weatherford, and Paul Weatherford (married to Tiesha)

Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Henry Clarence and Florence Eileen Shelton of Atlanta, Louisiana. She was also preceded in death by her four brothers: Cloy Shelton, Pat Shelton, David Shelton, and Richard Shelton; and her sisters, Kay White and Jettie Moore. She is survived by her cherished sisters, Cele Thompson, Connie Ferguson, and Lawanda Holmes.

Linda loved staying home with her children and never missed a ball game or event. She enjoyed working at Winnfield Preschool, where she frequently spoke about the babies in Ms. Hammond's class. After moving to Texas, she continued to work with children at her granddaughter's daycare. Linda found joy in watching hummingbirds and spending time with her family and friends.

Her greatest joys were her four children, 16 grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren, who were her whole world. She was deeply loved by them all and will be greatly missed. We are certain she will continue to watch over her family from heaven.

Funeral services for Linda will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, June 1, 2024, in the Southern Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Mitchell Miles officiating.  Interment will follow in the Brown Cemetery under the direction of Southern.

Friends may visit with the family at the funeral home on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until time of services.
