Mrs. Lela Mae McAllister Cockerham, age 83 of Winnfield, Louisiana passed away on Friday, September 10, 2021.

Born Wednesday, August 10, 1938 in Waterproof, Louisiana, she was a member of Old Union Baptist Church where she enjoyed working with the children's choir. She enjoyed all flowers and plants and she loved being a grandmother and a sister to her siblings.

Mrs. Cockerham was preceded in death by her parents, Richard Barrod and Hattie Mae Naff McAllister; husband, Howard Ray Cockerham; siblings, Ruth Carol McAllister, ElbertMilburn McAllister, Charles Edward McAllister, Allie Louise McAllister and Cathy Carroll.

Those left to cherish her memory include her sons, Steven Ray Cockerham (Annette) and Timothy Craig Cockerham (Christine); grandchildren, Elaine Annette Burdette (JShawn), Steven Ross Cockerham (Delinda), Amber Brook Dick (Kegan), Emilee Christine Cockerham, Lela Denise Scroggins (Logan) and Rusty Lane Cockerham and ten great-grandchildren; siblings, Ethel Addington, Betty McAllister, Wesley McAllister, Robert McAllister, Jimmy McAllister and Huey McAllister.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, September 14, 2021 at Old Union Baptist Church with Rev. Mike Green and Rev. Brian McAllister officiating. Interment will follow in Old Union Cemetery under the direction of Southern Funeral Home of Winnfield.

Mark Sweat, Joey Jordan, Derek Broadway, Kreston Phelps, Brent Montgomery, and Jamie McAllister will serve as pallbearers.  Honorary pallbearers will be Ross Cockerham, Rusty Cockerham, J. Shawn Burdette and Monty Lynn Phelps.

The family will receive friends at the church on Monday from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM and again on Tuesday from 9:00 AM until time of services.
