Lawrence Lavelle Chapman, age 67 of Jena, Louisiana passed from life surrounded by his family at his residence on Tuesday, April 8, 2025.

He was born to the union Thomas C.  Chapman and Elsie Mae Scott Chapman on Saturday, August 10, 1957, in Jonesville, Louisiana.

Lawrence lived most of his life in Jena with his wife and four children. He worked as an offshore mechanic before retiring. He loved NASCAR and fishing; however, he found his new passion in gardening. Lawrence was a wonderful grandpa and great-grandpa and he loved it. He could work on anything and didn't mind helping anyone who was in need. He never met a stranger. Lawrence will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Those left to love and miss him are his mother Elsie Scott Chapman, his wife of 47 years  Donna Marie Johnson Chapman, two sons  Lawrence "Bubba" Chapman, Jr. and his wife Jessica, and  Lester Chapman, and his wife Hailey, two daughters Dana Chapman Hauffe,  and Candess Chapman, five brothers Gerald Chapman, Jimmy Chapman, Wayne Chapman, Howard Chapman, and Larry Chapman, two sisters Glenda Chapman Blasingame, and  Lisa Kirkland, nine grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews and other family and friends.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, April 15, 2025, in the Chapel of Kinner & Stevens Funeral Home from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM.

A Memorial Service will be held in the Chapel of Kinner & Stevens at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, April 15, 2025.
