Larry Steve Wofford, Sr. age 74 of Jena, Louisiana passed from this life into the loving arms of our savior, Jesus Christ on Sunday, January 26, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
Larry was born on July 24, 1950, to John Steve Wofford, Jr. and Lula Belle Granger Wofford in McComb, Mississippi. Larry grew up in Natchez where he met and married Gloria Jean Mills Wofford, both in agreement each was the love of their lives, spending 54 wonderful years of marriage.
Larry was retired from the United States Army, and he also served an overseas tour of duty in Desert Storm. He was a devoted family man, dedicating his free time to his family with memories becoming sweeter each day.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Billy Jack Wofford, and a son-in-law John Wyles.
Those left to love and miss him are his wife of 54 years, Gloria Jean Mills Wofford, a daughter Lori Wyles & fiancé Keith Childress, of Grayson, LA, a son Steve Wofford, Jr. & wife Sabrina, of Melburn, AK, two sisters Dianne Barker, of Brandon, MS, and Debbie Tompkins & husband Morris, of Brandon, MS, four grandchildren Chase Wyles, Nathan Wofford, Gabby Hellums, and Gannon Hellums, two friends more like brothers Richard Michelli, and David T. Bradford.
The family will receive friends on Friday, January 31, 2025, at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, of Jena from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, January 31, 2025, at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Rickey Gresham and Rev. Carl Gulde officiating. Larry will be laid to rest following the service in the Columbia Hill Cemetery, in Columbia, Louisiana under the directions of Kinner & Stevens Funeral Home of Jena.
Those honored to serve Larry and his family as pallbearers are Robbie McMillian, Mickey Gresham, Tillman Corley, Donald Simmons, James Robbins, and John Rodney Campbell.
