In Loving Memory of Larry Hopper
Larry Hopper, a dedicated veteran, passed away peacefully on July 30, 2023 at St. Francis Cabrini Hospital in Alexandria, Louisiana. He was a beloved husband, father, and cherished member of his community. Larry's remarkable journey was filled with resilience, determination, and unwavering love for his family.
Born on December 6, 1951 to Cecil E. and Reba Jane Grisham Hopper, Larry grew up with a passion for horses and the outdoors as well as serving his country. His strong work ethic and commitment led him to serve his country as a Sergeant in the United States Army. Larry's service was marked by bravery and selflessness, earning him the respect and gratitude of those he worked alongside.
Larry's family meant everything to him. His wife, Dona Hopper, stood by his side throughout their journey, offering unwavering support and love. Together, they faced the challenges of life with strength and perseverance. Larry was a loving father to his children Lisa, Lori, Leshea, Lance and two stepchildren Justin and Toyia. He cherished every moment spent with them and instilled in them the values of hard work, respect, responsibility and compassion.
Beyond his professional achievements, Larry was known for his kind heart and willingness to lend a helping hand. He touched the lives of many with his generous heart and genuine care for others. Larry's presence will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Mr. Hopper is preceded in death by his father, Cecil Edgar Hopper and mother Reba Jane Grisham Hopper Rice; sister, Theresa Marchese; and stepson, Justin Shufflin.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Dona Evelyn Hopper; his children, Lisa Stroud and her husband William, their children Christian and Madison, Lori Harvey, and her children Leshea Hopper, and her children, stepdaughter, Toyia Shufflin, and her children Nikolas Andrew Shufflin, Audrey Victoria Jane Shufflin, Julie Anne Shufflin, Daniel J. Norris, Alisha Norris, Garrett Norris and their father Daniel Norris; Son, Lance E.E. Hopper, his wife and children, twins Eldon and Edgar; brothers, Tracy Hopper, and daughters Chloe and Kayla, Mark Hopper and his wife Artie; sisters, Connie Powell and Cecilia Gail Watts.
Visitation and Services for Mr. Larry will be held on Thursday, August 3, 2023, in the chapel of Southern Funeral Homes. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 9AM until time of services at 10AM with Rev. Russell Jones officiating. Mr. Larry will then go for cremation after the services.
In honoring Larry's memory, let us remember his steadfast dedication to his country, his unconditional love for his family, and his determination to see things through. Though he may be gone, his spirit will forever live on in the hearts and minds of those who were fortunate enough to have known him.
Rest in peace, Larry Hopper. Your legacy will continue to inspire us all.
