Joseph Daniel "Bubba" Waters, Jr., age 68, passed away on Wednesday, August 21, 2024, in Shreveport, LA. Born on June 22, 1956, in Natchitoches, LA, Joseph was a lifelong resident of Montgomery, LA. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend.
Joseph was a retired operator in the oil production industry, where he worked diligently throughout his career. A man of the Baptist faith, Joseph found peace in the simple joys of life—whether it was fishing, hunting, or driving around on his golf cart, visiting family and friends. He was also a skilled carpenter, known for his craftsmanship and love for creating with his hands.
He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Daniel Waters, Sr.; his mother, Corene Welch Waters; his sisters, Katherine Berry and Karen Sauce; and his in-laws, James and Dorothy Attaway.
Joseph is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Susie Waters; his children, Adam Waters, Paige Waters Ammons, and Hailey Waters (Robin); his grandchildren, Kason Lashley (Katie) and Kailey Sue "Sue Boo" Ammons; his sisters, Teresa Trichel (Andy), Emily Jo Davidson (Ronnie Gene), and Janice Dubois (Shannon); brother-in-law Jim Attaway (Jowanna) and sister-in-law Ginger Funk (Matt) ; his nephew and best friend, Luke Davidson; and his special Uncle Robert and Aunt Ruby Welch. He also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, and friends who will cherish his memory.
Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation at the First Baptist Church of Montgomery on Friday, August 23, 2024, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM. A funeral service will follow at 4:00 PM, with Rev. Lloyd Whitman officiating. Joseph will be laid to rest in Montgomery Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be: Shannon Dubois, Luke Davidson, Matt Funk, Derick Thomisee, Ryan James, Ronnie Gene Davidson.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial memorials be made to either St. Jude's, Wounded Warriors, or Lone Star Dog Ranch Rescue in Anna Texas.
