Johnette Folden Atkins, of Jonesboro, La passed away on March 24, 2023, just 3 days shy of her 82 nd birthday. She passed peacefully in her home after a battle with cancer. She was born March 27, 1941, in Winnfield, La and lived there a substantial portion of her life. She was married to Thomas "Buck" Mitchell for 21 years and had 3 children. Then married Alvin D Atkins of Bastrop for 17 years.

Johnette worked for many years as a cashier, factory worker, nurses aide and many other jobs to help support her family. She is survived by her children, Teresa Connor (Michael), Tina Maloy (Chris), amd Thomas Dewayne Mitchell (Paula); six grandchildren Brandon Maloy (Krisalyn), Michaela Connor Stewart (Jonathan), Dustin Maloy, Matthew Connor (Breanna), Lane Evans, Tiffany Mitchell, Chase Mitchell and Andy Mitchell. She is also survived by eleven great-grandchildren, two great great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.

Johnette was preceded in death by her granddaughter Melinda Connor Adkins, her spouse Alvin Atkins, her parents Roy and Etta Rolen Folden and nine siblings. Johnette loved all her family and they were her greatest joy. She loved to cook for her family and enjoyed singing in church.

Funeral services will be at Southern funeral home in Winnfield, La at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, March 26th, 2023, with Reverends David Walsworth and Billy McBride officiating.

Friends may visit with the family at the funeral home on Saturday from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and again on Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until time of services. Interment will follow at Hurricane Grove Cemetary in Sikes, La.
