John James Moore, age 83, of Winnfield, Louisiana, passed from this life on Wednesday, June 11, 2025, at Winn Parish Medical Center.
Born on January 9, 1942, in Goldonna, Louisiana, he was the son of the late Willie Odell Moore and Lela Mae Burnum Moore. He was also preceded in death by his siblings, Willie Edwin Moore, Harvey Ray Moore, Joyce M. Walker, and Raymond Moore.
A proud graduate of Calvin High School, John went on to earn his Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Northwestern State University in Natchitoches. He served his country honorably in the United States Air Force and was a member of Yankee Springs Baptist Church.
John had a deep love for genealogy and gardening, spending many peaceful hours tracing family history and tending to his plants. His quiet strength, gentle humor, and kind heart were cherished by all who knew him.
Those left to honor his memory include his siblings, Janice Paddie, Robert "Bobby" Moore, Jewel Moore, and Ola Courson; special friends, Alan and Ashley Turner and their family, and John Hawn; and his beloved fur-baby, Sheldon.
Graveside funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 15, 2025, at Yankee Springs Cemetery with Mike Carpenter officiating. Friends may visit with the family on Sunday at Southern Funeral Home in Winnfield from 12:30 p.m. until 1:30 p.m.
Pallbearers will be Greg Courson, Brent Hawn, Chris Lamendola, Jimmy Moore, Alan Turner, and David Turner.
