Mrs. Jo Ann Johns, age 86 of Winnfield, Louisiana passed away on Wednesday, July 13, 2022.

Born Tuesday, July 16, 1935 in Tannehill, Louisiana, she was preceded in death by her parents, Myrtle Lee Jordan James and Jimmie Ray James; husband, J. J. Johns; and son-in-law, Mike Cockerham.

Mrs. Johns was retired from the U.S. Postal Service where she served as Postmaster at Joyce, Louisiana. She enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, along with crocheting, gardening, and reading. Mrs. Johns was also an avid cookbook and butter dish collector as well as a regular patron at Embers Restaurant.

Those left to cherish her memory include her sons, David Johns (Anna), George "Tony" Johns (Lori), and Mark Johns (Velma); daughters, Alpha Boyett (Toby), Becky Cockerham, and Gayla Little (Jamie); 16 grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren; sister, Naomi Hall (Lyman); and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

The family will receive friends on Friday, July 15, 2022, at Southern Funeral Home, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM, and again on Saturday, July 16, 2022, at Southern Funeral Home, from noon until time of services.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, July 16, 2022 at Southern Funeral Home with Rev. Author Robinson and Rev. Yancy Martin officiating. Interment will follow in Zion Hill Cemetery, in Tannehill.

Serving the family as pallbearers will be Wesley Walker, Jimmy Johns, Randy Johns, Josh Walker, Matt Johns, Casey Johns, Anthony Johns, and Eric Little. Honorary pallbearers will be Chad Tingle, Jason Boyett, Chad Boyett.
