Jo Ann Gore Chatelain peacefully breathed her first breath in heaven on July 20, 2022 at the age of 78. She was born in Alexandria, LA on September 16, 1943 and was a resident of Kenner, LA for the last 45 years.

Jo Ann graduated from Warren Easton High school in 1961. She worked as an assistant cafeteria manager at Pan American Life for 15 years and retired as a cafeteria manager from Greenlawn Terrace Elementary school.

Preceded in death by her loving husband Clayon "Butsie" Chatelain, parents Reginald and Lucille Gore, siblings Robert, Ruby, Doug, Donna, and Delores, and her long-time friend Lee Guice, Sr.
Beloved mother of Stephen (Karen) and Michael (Tiffany) Chatelain; Grandmother of Jennie Stilley (Laremy), Ashley Rivera (Alvaro), Joshua Chatelain (Chelsea), and Michael Chatelain (Lisa); Great-grandmother to Ava, Preston, Michael, Brantley, Abel, Lincoln, Adelina, and Aleigha. Siblings, Regina Muhs and Renn (Nancy) Gore. She will be missed by many aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews, in-laws, and a great many friends that loved her.

She loved fishing, but loved telling her fishing stories more! She loved Mardi Gras and her city of New Orleans. She would boast with pride every time she got to introduce someone new to the culture. Most days, she could be found in the kitchen, preparing food for more people than could fit in her home. At the top of her favorite things to do was watching her great grand children play, but as a devoted Saints fan and decade long season ticket holder; she could always be found watching her "Who Dats". Her life revolved around her faith, family and friends. Her life was a testament to everyone she met, and she would take any opportunity to share God's word. She was your friend and your family whether you needed it or not. She was everyone's "Granny." She was a defender, supporter and warmest hug when someone needed it most. She was more than a friend, and more than your family, she was and always will be God's love. Anyone who knows her, knows that she has walked through the gates of heaven and was welcomed with opened arms. Thank you good and faithful servant.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the celebration of life at Vineyard Church of New Orleans, 4340 Sal Lentini Parkway, Kenner, LA 70065 on Thursday, July 28, 2022; services will be held 6:30 - 8:30 pm. Funeral Services will be held at Southern Funeral Home, 202 E. Lafayette Street, Winnfield, LA 71483 on Saturday, July 30, 2022; visitation will be held 9-11 am, service at 11 am. Interment to follow at Iatt Baptist Church Cemetery, 383 Iatt Church Road, Verda, LA 71404.
