Jettye Lou Thomas Kemp, a cherished resident of Montgomery, Louisiana, passed away on Thursday, January 16, 2025, in Pollock, Louisiana, at the age of 69. She was born on Sunday, July 10, 1955, in Winnfield, Louisiana, to the late James Paul Thomas, Sr., and Annie Belle Hasley Thomas.

Jettye was preceded in death by her loving parents and her grandparents, whose memories she held dear throughout her life.

Jettye spent her working career in child daycare and later became a teacher. She held several degrees from Northwestern State University including her Master's Degree in Education. She was an amazing seamstress and loved every minute of her time sewing. She was devoted to her students and held a deep concern for their education. Family was an extremely important part of her life.

She leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion to her family, which includes her daughters, Jaime Kemp (Devin Jones), and Michaela Kemp (Derrick Santini); her son, James "J.R." Kemp, II; her beloved grandchildren, Raylynn Wiley, Khloe'Belle Wiley, Elijah Wiley, and Mila Kate Santini; her siblings, James Paul Thomas, Jr., Ramona Curry, Fawn Fortman (Richard), and John Lindsay Thomas (Ashley); as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of dear friends.

Jettye's grandchildren were the light of her life, and she cherished every moment spent with them. Her warmth, kindness, and unshakable faith touched everyone she met, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. at St. Patricks Catholic Church in Montgomery with Father Joh Brocatto officiating.

Family and friends are invited to gather for visitation on Sunday, January 19, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Southern Funeral Home. A Rosary and Prayer Service will follow at 6:00 PM, officiated by Father John Brocatto.

A graveside service will be held at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, where Jettye will be laid to rest. Serving as pallbearers are Devin Jones, J.R. Kemp, Derrick Santini, Dustin Thompson, Rankin Curry, Chase Eppinette, Christopher Thomas, Charles Jackson, and John Luke Thomas. Honorary pallbearers will be her grandchildren.
