Jerry Wayne Runyon of Jonesboro, Louisiana, passed away on Sunday, February 25, 2024.  Jerry worked 43 years at Stone Container Corporation as a millwright and later worked for the Jackson Parish Sheriff's Department.  He served in the Louisiana National Guard.  As a young man, Jerry was an avid drag racer and could be found competing against other locals on secluded roads around Jackson Parish.

Jerry is survived by his daughters, Angie (Runyon) Johnston (Dan), Sherri (Runyon) Lloyd (Josh), and Dawn (Runyon) Robinson (Craig); grandchildren, Tempest Brymer (Barry), Larry Ponder II (Heather), Adam Ponder (Karyn), Amanda Rowley, Ashley Tisdale (Jeremy), Amber Williams (Michael) and Alayna Sanders (Travis); 15 great-grandchildren; sister, Vicki Knox (Clyde); and brother, Tommy Runyon (Alma).

He was preceded in death by his father, Walter Raymond Runyon; mother, Etoyle (Young) Runyon; and infant brother, Douglas Runyon.

A graveside service will be held at Gayla Traina Cemetery in Jonesboro on Thursday, February 29, 2024 at 11:00 AM.  Bro. Bubba Walsworth will conduct the service. Burial will be under the direction of Southern Edmonds Funeral Home of Jonesboro.

Serving the family as pallbearers will be Dan Johnston, Larry Ponder II, Adam Ponder, Nathaniel Donaldson, Glen Runyon and Barry Brymer.
