Ms. Jerry Lynn (Lanier) Walker, 75 of Jena, Louisiana passed from this life on Sunday, November 12, 2023, surrounded by her family.
She was born to the union of Travis Smiley Lanier and Flora Margaret (Jackson) Lanier on Sunday, June 6, 1948, in Alexandria, Louisiana. Ms. Jerry was the Bookkeeper for over 30 years for Norman Walker Backhoe Service and was a Clerk at Honeycutt Drug Store for 20 years. She then decided to leave the workforce and dedicate her time to caring for her grandchildren. She was a fighter and a survivor of brain cancer for over 19 years.
Ms. Jerry is preceded in death by her husband of 42 years Norman Gene Walker, her parents, two brothers Stid Lanier and Jack Lanier, two nephews Richard "Ricky" Lanier, and Steve Lanier, and a niece Margaret (Lanier) Smith.
Those left to love and miss her, are her daughter and son-in-law Melissa (Walker) Roy and Jake of Jena, her grandson Mason Roy of West Monroe, her granddaughter Jada (Roy) Parker and her husband Justin of Jena, and her great-granddaughter Ellie Jade Parker. She also leaves behind a nephew Wayne Lanier, as well as a host of other family members and friends who will miss her dearly.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, November 15, 2023, in the Chapel of Kinner & Stevens Funeral Home from 11:00 AM until 2:00 PM.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, November 15, 2023, in the Chapel of Kinner & Stevens with Bro. Clyde Grammon and Rev. Mike Wilkinson officiating. Ms. Jerry will be laid to rest following the service in the Woodland Cemetery, east of Jena on Hwy. 84.
Those honored to serve Ms. Jerry and the family as pallbearers will be Jake Roy, Mason Roy, Justin Parker, Nathan Barker, Matthew Barker, and David Conley, Jr. The honorary pallbearer is Billy Smith.
