Jaquetta Lynn Bates passed away peacefully on Monday, June 3, 2024, in Jonesboro, LA. She was born on July 2, 1959, in Shreveport, LA, and was 64 years old at the time of her passing. Jaquetta was a longtime resident of Winnfield, LA, where she devoted her life to being a loving homemaker who cherished her children and family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jack Monroe Carson and Shirley Ann Conley Carson, her former husband, and father of her children, Mickey Lynn Bates, and her nephew, Jeremy Pitman.

Jaquetta had a passion for gardening and found joy in cultivating vibrant blooms in her backyard. She especially had a fondness for watching hummingbirds visit her carefully tended flowers.

Jaquetta is survived by her children, Mickey Lynn Bates, Jr. (Lerai), Christopher "Micheal" Bates (Miranda), and Crissy Ann Bates. She leaves behind a loving legacy with her grandchildren, Bree and Maddie Jurek, Haley, Cambry, Kylie, Garrett, Avereigh, Ashton, Anna, and Allison Bates. Jaquetta is also survived by her sister, Brenda Burt, and her brother, Terry Carson.

Friends and family are invited to a public visitation at Southern Funeral Home on Wednesday, June 5, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM. The funeral service will follow at 1:00 PM at the same location, officiated by Rev. Leonard McDaniel. Jaquetta will be laid to rest at Sanders Chapel Cemetery.
