Mrs. Janet Teresa Navarre Gilcrease, a cherished member of the community, peacefully passed away on September 26, 2023, at the Courtyard of Natchitoches. Born on January 18, 1930, on the Bayou in Chacahoula, Louisiana, she was the daughter of the late Emile Navarre and the late Hilda Pontiff Navarre. Mrs. Gilcrease was preceded in death by her loving husband, Glenn Edward Gilcrease, her grandson Patrick Antony Lentz, and ten beloved siblings.

A woman of deep faith and devotion, Mrs. Gilcrease was a proud member of the First Baptist Church of Montgomery and the Montgomery Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star. Her love for God and community was evident in her daily actions and interactions.

Mrs. Gilcrease had a profound appreciation for the beauty of nature and found joy in nurturing it. She delighted in feeding hummingbirds and cultivated blooming gardens of flowers and vegetables. In her leisure, she found solace and creativity in quilting and crocheting, leaving behind a legacy of handcrafted beauty.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Patricia Cowling Dubois (Kenneth) and Cindy Cowling Bauerle; her adored grandchildren, Seth, Cassiddy, Jon, and Mark; eight great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson. She is also survived by her sister, Betty Navarre, and numerous nieces and nephews, all of whom will remember her lovingly.

Mrs. Janet Teresa Navarre Gilcrease was laid to rest on Thursday, September 28th, at Mt. Zion Cemetery, under the direction of Southern Funeral Home of Winnfield.
