Mr. James Ray "Goob" Johnson, age 83, of Calvin, LA, passed away on Monday, January 29, 2024, in Shreveport, LA. He was born in Plain Dealing on Friday, March 8, 1940, to the late Fred Johnson and Ruby Johns Johnson in an undeniably humble beginning.

Mr. Johnson, widely known as "Goob," was a dedicated Log Truck Driver who found fulfillment in his lifelong career. He retired from JKM Logging, leaving behind a legacy of hard work and dedication. His passion for his craft was evident to all who knew him.

A faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Calvin, Mr. Johnson was a man of strong faith who found solace and camaraderie within his church community. In his leisure time, he enjoyed the simplicity of life through his love for fishing and woodworking, skills that he graciously shared with his loved ones.

Mr. James Ray Johnson was preceded in death by his father, Fred Johnson; his mother, Ruby Johns Johnson; and his son, Jerry "Twinkie" Johnson. Although they have gone before him, their memory lives on in the hearts of those who loved him.

He is also survived by his brothers Roy Johnson (Ida) and Ted Wayne Johnson, along with a host of 18 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. The family extends their love to their cherished fur babies, Fuzzy, Ginger, and Baby Girl.

Paying tribute to Mr. Johnson as pallbearers are Charles Tucker, Ross Heard, Phillip Mercer, Payton Mercer, Dillan Johnson, and Randall Vines. Honorary pallbearers include Ty Toms, Kale Toms, John "Buster" Barber, Jr., Chris Heard, Daniel Miller, Clinton McKinney, Kevin Ashley, Jerry Mercer, and the employees of JKM Logging, Inc.
