James Byron Hubbard passed from this life on March 9, 2025. He passed after a lengthy battle with Parkinson 's disease. Byron was born on May 1, 1956 in Winnfield, Louisiana at the Winnfield Hospital to the union of James Eugene and Jean Shirley Hubbard.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife and best friend, Dewana Hinton Hubbard, and by his parents.

Those left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Melinda L. Hubbard of Winnfield, LA, his sister, Candace Hubbard Gray (Bob) of Sapulpa, OK, his brother, Lowell Hubbard (Debra) of Winnfield, LA, his sister-in-law, Dena D. Young of  Winnfield, La, and a host of nieces and nephews.

Byron was a man larger than life. The original Mr. Fix-it. He could work on and fix anything. At thirteen years old, he began working for Troy's Supermarket in Winnfield. He worked all through school and got his technical degree in Natchitoches as a journeyman electrician. At nineteen, he married the love of his life and his best friend, Dewana. They traveled and lived and loved through this life together.

Byron spent his career working in industrial lumber mills as an electrician and maintenance team lead and spent over twenty years as a self-employed logging contractor. Known as "Chief" to his coworkers, he never met a broken-down machine or piece of equipment that he could not fix and make it better. An innovative thinker, he was always on the lookout for ways to make the work more efficient.

Even with his success as a businessman, his defining attribute outside of his family, was his walk with and love for his Savior. A man of tremendous faith, he met all of life's problems with an uncompromising and unshakable faith in God.

He and Dewana spent many countless moments and years working in the church and for God's Kingdom. He served as a lay minister for many years, spreading the gospel over saw- heads and log truck racks. Any conversation with him would eventually turn to scripture and his Jesus.

Diagnosed with Parkinson's  Disease in 2012, Byron spent the next several years trusting in God and meeting his challenges head on with grit and grace as only a child of God can. The day he has looked and prayed for has finally come. He is now in the arms of Jesus and the toils of this life are done.

Friends may visit with the family at Southern Funeral Home in Winnfield on Tuesday, March 11, 2025 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Wednesday from 11:00 AM until time of service.

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, March 12, 2025 at 12:00 PM in the chapel of Southern Funeral Home with Reverend Gary M. Parker and Rev. Joel Hines officiating.  Burial will follow in the Beech Creek Cemetery under the direction of Southern Funeral Home.

Serving as pallbearers will be Alonzo Rodriguez, Aaron Rodriguez, Mark Green, Logan Hinton, Dennis T. Hinton, and Terry Young. Honorary pallbearers will be Lowell Hubbard, Jerry Hubbard, Brent Hubbard, James Coates, and Ronnie Coates.
