Mr. James Calvin Cox, age 72 of Dodson, Louisiana passed away on Tuesday, March 7, 2023.

Born Thursday, January 11, 1951 in Tullos, Louisiana, he was preceded in death by his parents, Ruby Midkiff Cox and Jessie Calvin Cox; siblings, Racheal Woods, David Cox, and Evie Southall; and in-laws, Gene Terral, Sr. and Bertha Terral.

Mr. Cox was retired from Weyerhaueser. He was a logger and loved hunting, fishing, and the outdoors.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 50 years, Grace Cox; children, Janis Lawson (Bobby) and Valerie Berry (Jeffery); grandchildren, Destiny, Hunter, Garrett, Hailey, Holly, Daniel, and Wesley; six great grandchildren; siblings, Darlene Vines, Tish Vail, Shirley McGuire, and Herbert Cox; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Friday, March 10, 2023, at Southern Funeral Home, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM, and again on Saturday, March 11, 2023, at Southern Funeral Home, from 1:00 PM until time of services.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, March 11, 2023 at Southern Funeral Home with Rev. Otis McGee and Rev. Bobby McGuire officiating. Interment will follow in Transport Cemetery, in Dodson.

Serving the family as pallbearers will be Jeffery Berry, Hunter Sims, Garrett Berry, Spencer Gaar, Wesley Coker, Keith Bryant, Jr., Leroy Cloud, and Daniel Berry. Anthony Harmon will serve as an honorary pallbearer.
