Mr. James Earl Brew "Father James", age 81, of Winnfield, Louisiana joined his heavenly Father on Wednesday, April 13, 2022. He was born on February 7, 1941, to the late Cuban Brew and Otelia Peats. He was a graduate of Pinecrest High School.
He was very humorous and enjoyed a good laugh. In his later years Father enjoyed watching all sports. A week before his passing we were watching the Lakers play and when a commercial came on, there was a nice-looking lady on tv and I saw him smile and he waved at her. I asked, Father are you waving at that lady? He shook it head yes with a smile.

Cherishing his memories are his children: Sonya Brew-Carlisle, (Anthony Carlisle) of Grand Rapids, MI. and Vonda Brew-Forbes of Grand Rapids, MI., Earl Cummings, stepson (deceased): 5 grand children: Jamon, JaCoyia, DonTayre, Erin and Jordan: 8 great grand children: Izary, Tristin, Jayceon, KyLeigh, Aydin, Noelle, Ashtin and Jyaire. Father worked at Louisiana State Highway Department -Winn Parish as a Mobile Equipment Operator 2, from 8/27/1979 to 7/7/2001.

He was a hard worker and even though he enjoyed retirement, he often talked about working part time for a friend at a morgue. ( This never took place). Due to health issues Father ended up residing at Autumn Leaves Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Some of the workers became family. We would like to thank them for taking care of Father for so many years.

Visitation and Services for Mr. Brew will be held on Saturday, April 23, 2022 in the chapel of Southern Funeral Home in Winnfield. Visitation will begin at 12 noon with funeral services to follow at 1:00PM with Bro. Tommy Sanson officiating. Interment will follow in New Bethlehem Cemetery in Verda, Louisiana.
